Trash/Solid Waste Pickup Changes

| Curb-side Recycling |
- Single-stream, curb-side recycling pickup is provided by the City of Gainesville.
- Recyclables are normally picked up in Waters Edge on Wednesday.
- Recyclables are not picked up on most Holidays -- refer to the updated schedule for details.
- Items that can be recycled at the curb:
- Glass is no longer allowed in curbside recycling bins. Glass may be recycled at compactor sites (see below).
- Cans - Aluminum and tin cans. Rinse out, flatten (optional). Scrap metal (less than 5 lbs. and less than 18" in length).
- Paper- Clean and dry newspaper, magazines, catalogs, mail, writing paper,
phone books, cereal and other paperboard boxes, paper frozen food boxes, paper bags.
- Plastic - Bottles #1-#7, such as milk, soda, detergent or shampoo bottles. Rinse out and remove lids.
- Cardboard - Flattened boxes placed in cart.

| Compactor |
- The Gould Lane Compactor station is located on Hillside Gardens Lane off of McEver Road.
- The Compactor station accepts items such as bagged trash, sorted recyclables, and motor oil.
- Normal compactor hours are
- Mon-Sat 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM
- Sun 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- The Compactor is operated by Hall County. Additional Compactor information is available at

| Leaf and Brush pickup |
- As a service to city residents, the City of Gainesville Public Works Department provides curbside leaf pickup to homes inside the city limits from October 5th to January 29th.
- Leaf pickup is operated by Hall County. Additional information is available at
www.gainesville.org/248/Leaf-Pickup.
- The City of Gainesville also provides Brush Pickup on an as-needed basis. Brush should be left in a neat pile on the edge of the pavement.

| Road Safety |
- Our neighborhood streets are narrow, hilly, and curvy, so please be careful.
- Neighborhood roads are Gainesville city streets, subject to city rules and city police enforcement.
- Obey road markings and signs.
- Many residents exercise themselves and their pets by walking through the
neighborhood. Please drive safely and carefully.
- Pedestrians should walk on the left, facing traffic, and always pay
attention to your surroundings.
- Children should not be allowed to play in the street.

| Parking |
- Be considerate of pedestrians, other drivers, and mail carriers when you park.
- Try to avoid creating an obstacle course with your parked car.
- The following notes are extracted from Gainesville City Code, Sec. 9-10-3-7 - Vehicle parking in residential zoning districts.
- Location and number of vehicles limited. In single-family residential zoning districts,
the parking of automobiles is permitted in garages, carports, or outdoors.
Unenclosed parking shall not exceed four outdoor automobiles per single-family
or two-family dwelling unit in any front yard of a lot. Parking shall be
permitted only in designated hard surfaced areas with concrete or asphalt
surfacing and shall not be permitted outside such surfaced areas
(i.e., no parking in yards).
- Recreational vehicles. Parking or storage of such recreational
equipment or vehicles shall not take place on any vacant residential lot.
In residential zoning districts, recreational equipment such as boats,
boat trailers, travel trailers, recreational vehicles, pick-up campers or
coaches, motorized dwellings, motor coaches, tent trailers and other similar
vehicles may be parked or stored only in side yards, rear yards, carports,
or in an enclosed building. If stored regularly in a side or rear yard,
the vehicle and vehicle storage area shall be screened from view from
abutting properties. Recreational vehicles may be parked or stored anywhere
on residential premises except within a required front yard for a period
not to exceed seventy-two (72) hours.
- Commercial vehicles.Parking or storage of commercial vehicles
shall not take place on any vacant residential lot. It shall be unlawful to
park or store commercial vehicles (including but not limited to dump trucks
and delivery trucks) or school buses in front yards of residential zoning
districts. One commercial vehicle may be parked or stored in a side or
rear yard of a lot in a residential zoning district, but if stored
regularly in a side or rear yard, the vehicle and vehicle storage area
shall be screened from view from abutting properties and parked on a
hard-surfaced area.

| Animal Control |
- Animals within Water's Edge are covered by Georgia and Hall County Animal Ordinances. In Hall County, Section 4.10.200 (excerpt) states "It is unlawful for the owner of any domesticated animal ... or anyone having a domesticated animal ... in his possession or control, to permit such domesticated animal ... to be at large and not under restraint."
- Other sections include special requirements for animals defined as "hazardous". Please restrain your pet safely and securely.
- "Electronic fence" enclosures should be indicated by a sign on the property (for pedestrian safety), and maintained in working order. Pets contained by electronic fences should be monitored frequently, not left alone all day.
- Neighborhood awareness is our best protection against unrestrained pets. Feel free to report your concerns to the HOA, or to directly contact Hall County Animal Control at 770-531-6830 (M-F 8AM-5PM) or 770-536-8812 (after hours).

| Noise |
- It shall be unlawful for any person to make, continue or cause to be made or continued any load, unnecessary or unusual sound or noise which unreasonably annoys, disturbs or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace or safety of others in the city, and which is audible to a person of normal hearing ability more than one hundred (100) feet from the point of origin of this sound or noise.

- Definitions; standards. The definition of "plainly audible" and the standards regarding the measurement of sound by law enforcement personnel shall be as promulgated by the department of public safety, as required in O.C.G.A § 40-6-14(d)
- Yelling, shouting, etc. Yelling, shouting, hooting, whistling or singing on the public streets so as to annoy or disturb the quiet, comfort, or repose of persons in any office, dwelling, hotel or other type of residence or of any persons in the vicinity
- Sec. 3-5-20. - Disturbance at night.
No person shall make, and no person shall permit to be made on his premises by any person or thing, any noise at night calculated to disturb the peace of the city, or the rest and quiet of any of the citizens thereof.

- It shall be unlawful for any person to violate or fail to comply with any provision of this Code and where no specific penalty is provided therefor, the violation of any provision of this Code shall be punished by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six (6) months or by both such fine and imprisonment. Each day any violation of any provision of this Code shall continue shall constitute a separate offense.

| Lighting |
- Full cut-off fixtures required. All luminaries not exempted from this section hereafter installed for parking lots, buildings, and grounds shall be full cutoff luminaries, as defined by this article, or another luminary which does not emit any direct light above a horizontal plane through the lowest direct-light-emitting part of the luminary, unless otherwise part of a lighting plan approved by the community development director
- Glare. Any luminary that is aimed, directed, or focused so that the lamp is visible, or in a way that causes direct light from the luminary to be directed toward residential buildings on adjacent or nearby land, or that creates glare perceptible to persons operating motor vehicles on public ways, shall be redirected or its light output controlled as necessary to eliminate such conditions

The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers is updating their Master Plan for Lake Lanier for the first time since 1987.
